Time spent in nature has opened my eyes to the interconnectedness of all beings. I seek to highlight the small creatures we share this planet with, those that contribute so much to the health of our world. As a naturalist in Alaska once said, “The mosquitoes are my friends, and I am their food.” I am drawn to the sublime, and the places where terror and wonder meet. I want to be a vessel for images that allow time to fall away and bring the viewer fully into the present moment.

One of the greatest gifts nature and art have given me is this: in times of suffering and loneliness, I have gone out into the world and discovered that even when I am the only human for miles, I am not alone.

I want the viewer to feel that we are part of a continuum. Nothing begins or ends with us. We move through this life with the opportunity to experience full aliveness, and that aliveness grows through awareness and respect for our fellow humans and the many beings we share this planet with.

Over the past few years, I have been steadily developing my portfolio, and I am beginning to see my own style emerge. Following this sense of exploration has brought immense joy into my life. When feelings like this arise, do not ignore them. They may feel frightening at first, but moving forward with a beginner’s mind will change everything.

My work spans figure drawing, nature sketching, and wildlife photography. The through line is a love of form, movement, and the uniqueness of each individual subject.

My methods are simple, and I keep them that way to avoid any sense of separation between myself and my subject. You will find me working with pencil or charcoal in my sketchbook, or out in the field with my OM-5 and OM-1 Mark II. My current lenses give me a wide range of perspective: 12–45mm, 45–150mm, and 300mm.
